Tanja has helped me with my lower back pain, my scoliosis challenged posture and general body awareness. She is quick to spot where I need work, and she adjusts exercises and moves constantly.
I have taken Pilates for years and have never had the results I’ve had while working with Tanja.

Tanja knows that these exercises have a certain learning curve and she is with you from beginning to end … refreshing your memory every time you come to class, spotting problem areas and addressing them always with positive reinforcement. I thank her not only for her professionalism but more than that … for her love of teaching.

Her mere existence is a testament to not only her uncompromising spirit, and unworldly courage, but to the idea of unimpeded freedom of expression. (...) Avant Garde seems to be the simplest and most convenient label to attach to qualia-c and this album, and honestly, it’s also the most accurate. She creates within an outer realm, that reflects her surroundings, and internalizes the ensuing chaos. To describe this as Performance Art, would almost be an incomplete thought.

London’s piece was an interactive (sculpture) soundscape tour. (...) entitled “PERMADEATH: sol[e]menace” and explored a society in which people relived their ancestor’s grief and pain. Throughout the experience, you were asked to perform simple tasks in order to stay present within the exhibit. Probably one of the most unique pieces, London’s “PERMADEATH: sol[e]menace” speaks to the suffering of society, as well as the joys you can experience amidst sorrow.

About Me

Somatics

I am a somatic educator and Medical QiGong Practitioner based in West Oakland, CA.
I have been focusing on fascia and cell health through movement. I am invested in teaching ways of moving that are organically connected and touch all areas of Being: the physical-, the emotional- and the energetic Body.
A lifelong learner, my 15 year long teaching practice is informed by my Studies in Social Pedagogy, Dance / Improvisation, STOTT Pilates and Fascial Movement, Medical QiGong as well as other somatic explorations in Experimental Anatomy, Feldenkrais and Body Mind Centering.

Art

I am a performing, haptic, visual and sound artist based in West Oakland, CA.
Querying social and hierarchical constructs is an integral part of who I am and why I am an artist. My work is experimental at heart and has an inclusive feminist viewpoint. I transform sociopolitical and ecological phenomenons into visceral and thought provoking multimedia performance-/art. Topics such as the erosion of democracy, inherited stress and trauma, the cultural impact of military technology and climate resilience shape my theoretical and in studio/on site research.

sound

My electronic sound and visual art projects under the alias qualia-c are dedicated to experimentation and exploration of energy, interconnection, the somatic impact of vibrations, as well as to shadow work on the edges of my emotions, thoughts and connections.
